Obituary
Joseph Kapiniak was born December 29, 1934 on the family farm near Ketchen, Saskatchewan. He passed peacefully to rest on December 5, 2021, awaiting the call of the “Life-giver”.
Growing up as the oldest son in a farming family, Joseph developed an admirable work ethic. His extraordinary ability to multitask and coordinate the big picture made him successful in his careers in forestry, construction and later in his own excavation business. Joseph’s family and his relationship with God were of utmost importance. His active roles in leadership and involvement in church and community activities made him highly respected by his peers. His charitable, sacrificial spirit and love for travel took him all over the globe. Upon his retirement in 2006, he relocated to Alberta where he enjoyed caring for his acreage, which included his lifelong passion for gardening, as well as remaining involved in the other activities he cherished.
He was predeceased by his son Richard Kapiniak; parents Frank and Olga Kapiniak; and sisters Pauline Zachary (née Kapiniak) and Anne Pearson (née Kapiniak). He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Joan Kapiniak; children Jackie (Tony) Antunes, David Kapiniak, Jon Kapiniak, Gary (Joan) Schulz, and Mike (Szabina) Schulz; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, a private family service will be held. A public service will be announced at a later date.
