Obituary of Joseph Angelo Rea
Dr. Joseph Rea
With great sadness and broken hearts, the Rea family announces the sudden passing of its eldest son and older brother, Dr. Joseph Rea. In our grief, we share that Joe succumbed to injuries sustained in an accidental fall.
Joe was an advocate of mental health awareness and proper treatment for those who suffer and a champion for the environment. As Director of the Arcangelo Rea Family Foundation, his commitment to London and the surrounding communities has funded many important projects over the past thirty-five years.
Joe joins his Mother, Anna, in Heaven, where they reunite again. He will be deeply missed by his Father, Arcangelo and Brothers, Perry and Daniel, as well as his sister, Julianna. Many will feel his loss: nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, family, friends, and colleagues. This earth will be a different place without Joe, but Heaven has gained a beautiful angel.
In his memory, you might consider planting a tree, or a perennial garden, or hanging a birdfeeder. Be kind to the environment: consider the use of environmentally friendly products and try composting. Please do a little reading to understand the issues around mental health. And above all, perform a random act of kindness. This is what Joe would do.
We love you, Joe. xo
The family will plan a celebration of life to be announced at a later date.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Joseph Angelo Rea 2021..
Death notice for the town of: London, Province: Ontario
My family and I send our deepest sympathy to the Rea Family on the loss of your spectacular Joe. It’s appropriate that Joe devoted so much of his life to the environment because he was a force of nature himself. He made this world a much better place with his unique combination of commitment and hard work but always based in gentleness, kindness and that quick wit of his. I have a favourite memory of Joe from high school, training for wrestling (he was an amazing athlete) because he was already showing a devotion and passion to his goals that he never lost. He always gave 100% of himself. I have absolutely no doubt that Joe saved the lives of many young people by focusing his efforts on issues of mental health and supporting youth experiencing it, long before widespread programmes existed. You as his family can be very very proud of Joe. He did great things on this earth, and for this earth. And let’s be honest, every female who ever met him had a giant crush on him! While those who knew and loved him will grieve his loss forever, I hope that the thought of him resting in eternal peace, in the arms of his mama, whom he loved so much, will bring you the solace that it’s bringing me right now. Bravo, thank you, and Godspeed, Joe.
Joe you were a good man and I looked forward to us catching up when time permitted. Sometimes there are no words. I will miss you my friend, and thank you for your legacy! Condolences to the family and all who loved you.
