Josef Kopp November 12 1929 May 13 2021

Josef Kopp passed away peacefully at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, Barrie on Thursday, May 13th, 2021, in his 92nd year. Joe Kopp of Barrie, beloved husband of Elfriede Kopp. Cherished father of Marion Kopp and Claudia Taylor (Brian). Loving and devoted Opa of Lindsay (Matthew) and Ryan. Brother of Leni. Cremation has taken place. If desired, memorial donations to the Canadian Wildlife Federation would be appreciated by the family. Joe immigrated to Canada from Germany in 1956 to make a better life for his wife Elfriede and two daughters, Marion and Claudia, in Toronto. His wife of 67 years was his best friend. He loved travelling with her all over Europe, Canada, and the United States. He enjoyed her cooking and baking immensely. He built her a cottage/retirement home on Lake of Bays, where they enjoyed residing for many years. Joe worked long and hard hours in the woodworking industry. His work ethic was rewarded in both his jobs as plant and shop manager. This work ethic was passed along to his daughters and grandchildren, Lindsay and Ryan. With these skills, he built for his family and friends many pieces of wooden furniture, which we still treasure. His family meant everything to him. As a father he was kind, generous and strict when needed. He provided his daughters with incredible childhood memories from travelling, camping, to cottage life in Muskoka. Joe’s grandchildren were his pride and joy. He spent much of his retired life nurturing and spoiling them. There were hours of outdoor activities: fishing, boating, swimming, hiking in the forest, as well as playing board games and doing puzzles. Teaching his grandchildren the German language and travelling to Germany to show them their heritage was important to Joe. He had many friends that he went fishing and hunting with in his younger years. His love for the sport of hockey was never-ending, with his favourite team being the Montreal Canadiens. Attending Colts games in Barrie was top of his list. He had loyal friendships that lasted his lifetime. We will miss him dearly, and he will live in our hearts forever. Till we meet again.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Josef Kopp November 12 1929 May 13 2021..
