Obituary for
Josée Forest-Niesing
The Honorable Senator Josée Forest-Niesing 1964-2021
(18 December, 1964 – 20 November, 2021)
A life and legacy cut short, she leaves us far too soon. It is with deep sorrow that the family announces the death of our precious Josée, the Honorable Josée Forest-Niesing, in Sudbury, on Saturday November 20, 2021 at the age of 56 years. Beloved wife of Robert Niesing. Daughter of the late Normand and Marie-Paule (Lavallée) Forest. Beloved mother of Véronique Niesing-Moss (Andrew) and Philippe Niesing (Catherine). Dear sister of Sylvie Forest Palkovits (Robert) and Dominique Forest (Kieran Milne). Beloved grandmother of Jacob and Léo Moss.
Her many accomplishments in service to her community and to Canadians are noted in recent articles, but for those who cherish Josée, it is her compassion, her astute mind, her grace, her humour and her inexhaustible resilience hidden behind her radiant smile that will remain in our hearts forever. Her invaluable commitment to her family and loved ones will be a part of us for the rest of our days.
A celebration of life will be limited to a private and intimate gathering due to restrictions imposed by the pandemic. Should it be your wish, your sympathies may be expressed by contributing to the Place des Arts du Grand Sudbury (maplacedesarts.ca/don/) in memory of the Honorable Senator Josée Forest-Niesing. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Cooperative Funeral Home, Sudbury.
