Mr. Jose Da Costa of LaSalette passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, October 3, 2021 in his 97th year. Jose had a passion for farming. He grew tobacco after emigrating from Portugal and later transitioned into hogs. He could always be found in his vegetable garden, grafting fruit trees or with his chickens – usually with at least one of his grand/great grandkids in tow. He had a strong faith, a great love for children, and an even greater love for his wife, Maria, who he is now reunited with. Beloved husband of the Late Maria (Vilaca) Da Costa (2004). Loving father of John Da Costa ( Elizabeth ), Jack Da Costa (Pamela) and the Late Manuel Da Costa (2003) and his wife, Alice. Cherished grandfather of nine grandchildren: Mark (Hanneke), Michele (Ryan), Michael (Emily), Melissa (Adam), Joseph (Kelly), Jaclyn , Jordan , Ana and Diogo and thirteen great-grandchildren: Osha, Renzo, Pella , Lois, Eva, Jonah, Maya, Wyatt, Emilia, Sofia , Leo, Marley and Oliver. Dearest brother of Francisco, Rosa, Albertina and Maria. Also survived by several nieces, nephews and in-laws. Predeceased by his great-granddaughter, Prim (2018) and by his two sisters: Olivia and Conceicao. Friends may call at the MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, Delhi (519) 582-1290 (www.mfh.care) for visitation on Thursday, October 7, 2021 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. In consideration of the continuing health and safety of our friends and family, a Private Family Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady, Queen of Martyrs Church, Delhi with Interment in Our Lady of LaSalette Cemetery. Memorial Donations to the Ronald McDonald House (Hamilton) or the Optimist Club of Norwich & District will be gratefully appreciated by the family.
