Obituary of John Thiessen
Thiessen: Johan “John” E. –
A resident of Chatham, and formerly of Waterloo, John Thiessen passed away at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on Thursday, August 12, 2021 in his 70th year.
Born in Mexico on August 29, 1951, John was the son of the late Isaac and Katharina (Epp) Thiessen.
Beloved husband of 50 years to Katharina “Tina” (nee Goertzen).
Loving father of Al Thiessen (Susan) of Blenheim and Dennis Thiessen (Tiina) of New Brunswick and the late Martha Thiessen.
Proud Grandpa to Madelyn and Gracelyn.
Dear brother to Anna Loewen (Dick) of Edmonton, Trudy Thiessen of Waterloo, Susan Swartzentruber (Chuck) of Elmira, Jacob Thiessen (Natty) of Fergus, Isaak Thiessen (Sarah) of Waterloo, Abe Thiessen (Sheila) of Manitoba and Marty Thiessen (Ardea) of Brampton.
Also missed by nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.
John loved to cut grass, both at home and for others, including his church.
He loved to drive both for work and for pleasure. He drove truck professionally and went on many trips with Katharina over the years.
John loved being around people, loved going for coffee and was known for his frequent phone calls to his family.
He loved playing golf and also said that one of his most memorable moments was when he played on the same softball team as his sons.
John will be remembered for his gentle, caring nature.
A Private Family Service will be Live-Streamed on the Funeral Home website at 12:00pm on Monday, August 16, 2021 with Pastor Rick Dressler officiating. Private family interment to follow at Arnold Cemetery.
