Obituary of John Luke Owen
OWEN: John Luke –
A resident of R.R. # 4 Thamesville, John Owen passed away at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus with family at his side on Friday, November 5, 2021 at the age of 90.
Born in Chatham Township, John was the son of the late Luke and Amelia (Markham) Owen.
Beloved husband of 66 years to Genevieve Owen (nee Bechard).
Loving father of Susan Abray (Richard), Robert Owen (Teresa), Ken Owen (Betty), Linda Hills (Lee), Bill Owen (Penny) and Tim Owen.
Proud Grandpa to Carrie Gilroy, Gordie Claridge, Brad Owen, Scott Owen, Beverly Ellis, Amanda Legroulx, Brandon Owen, Jeremy Hills, MacKenzie Hills, Ashley Owen and Brandi Owen.
Great-Grandpa to Nathan, Lucas, Olivia, Ethan, Kadence, Gavin, Ana, Scarlett and the late Camden.
Dear brother to Elsie Schmid (late Frank).
Also missed by nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.
John farmed all his life in Howard Township with his family. He had also worked at R. J. Simpson’s in Thamesville for over 20 years. John was on the Board of Directors at the Thamesville Credit Union and had been the Secretary Treasurer for the UAW.
John loved reading, working on puzzles and going to restaurants with friends and family.
Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 76 Main Street East, Ridgetown on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 from 11:00am – 12:30pm. The Bereavement Authority of Ontario have mandated that all attendees wear a mask. A Private Family Service will be held with an interment to follow at Owen Cemetery.
