Obituary of John Hurley
Hurley, John of Aylmer passed away at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Thursday, June 24, 2021 in his 69th year. Beloved husband of Robin (Summers) Hurley. Dear father of Amber Smith(Shaun) and Shaelyn Hurley(Dan Marlatt). Loving grandfather of Kaylee, Tyler and Nicholas. Son-in-law of David Summers and the late Jeanette Summers(2007). Brother-in-law of Cindy Brunelle (Mike), Greg Thompson(Janice), Kim Cross(Kevin). Also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Ralph and Joyce (Brooks) Hurley, a sister Kathleen Kennedy(2018). He worked for Canada Post for 39 years and served as Shop Steward. John was an avid outdoorsman and hunter, and an award winning trap shooter. John was a member of the Aylmer Curling Club. He enjoyed racquet sports, especially pickle ball and loved riding his motorcycle. He helped coach his daughters competitive soccer and hockey teams. He was always supportive of his grandchildren’s activities. John loved spending time in northern Ontario with family & friends, especially while paddling in his cedar strip kayak that he built with his own hands and was very proud of. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, friends who wish to attend the visitation on Sunday, June 27th starting at 1:00 p.m. at the H.A. Kebbel Funeral Home can call the funeral home at (519 773 8400) to register. A private family funeral service will be held at the H. A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer on Monday on June 28, 2021 at 11:00 am. and can be viewed remotely on livestream. Cremation has taken place. Donations to the Aylmer Curling Club, the Aylmer Corner Cupboard Foodbank(East Elgin Community Assistance Program) or the Aylmer Area Community Foundation would be appreciated.
