Eckert, John Jacob
October 6, 1927 – September 16, 2021
Passed away peacefully at Peterborough Regional Health Centre on September 16, 2021 in his 93rdyear. John will be missed by his niece Sherry Benz, dear friends Rick and Colleen Geary and Elizabeth and Roger Poirier. Predeceased by his parents Jacob and Rose Eckert and his sister Ann Chandler.
John was born in Chicago, Illinois and served in the Marines during World War II until he was injured. He moved to Canada with his mother where he lived and worked in Toronto until he came to Bobcaygeon to fish and fell in love with the community and then retired at a young age to move here permanently.
As per John’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no service will be held. Arrangements entrusted to Hendren Funeral Home – Monk Chapel, 6 Helen Street, Bobcaygeon. As expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society by visiting www.hendrenfuneralhome.comor by calling 705-738-3222.
