It is with deepest sadness that we announce the passing of John W (Bud) Petican. He passed peacefully in his sleep on Friday March 26, 2021 at the age of 86 years. Bud left behind his beloved wife of 32 years, Norma, his children Darcy, Denise, Douglas, David and his wife Carolyn, daughter in law Heather Child and her husband Colin, his
grandchildren Nicholas, Cole, Victoria, Erin, Andrew, Catherine and Julia. John was predeceased by his father John (Wilf), mother Alice and brother Don.
Bud lead a very active life, he enjoyed a lifetime passion with golf and tennis that he shared with his wife. He was a champion bowler which lead to his success in later years as a lawn bowler. He also enjoyed fulfilling careers in the Canadian Armed forces where he learned and plied his skills as a meteorologist, he retired from the military in 1977 and quickly moved on to a full career as a meteorologist with Ontario Hydro. He retired from Hydro in 1999 and settled in Wasaga Beach. He spent a number of winter seasons in Port Charlotte, Florida, living in Maple Leaf Estates with Norma, playing golf, tennis and just enjoying the good life.
Bud loved and cherished his wife Norma and enjoyed the company of many loyal friends and career colleagues. His family would like to offer their thanks to all Bud’s doctors and nurses at Collingwood General Hospital for their kindness and professionalism.
