John Vernon
Clough – 80, Salmon
River, passed away on Saturday, October 30, 2021. Born in Pictou, he
was a son of the late Vernon and Alice (Cyr) Clough.
John was a pipefitter and welder in Alberta with Local 496.
Keeping fit and in shape was important to John, and he had a strict
regimen of lifting weights and being on the exercise bike. He loved
hockey and tennis, and followed and cheered on his favourite teams and
player, Calgary Flames, Pittsburg Penquins and Roger Federer. He
enjoyed gardening, both flowers and vegetables, and puttering around
with woodworking.
John is survived by his loving wife, Brenda (Towse);
children, Darren (Dawn) Clough, Calgary, Alberta; Debbie (Bryan)
Ettinger, Lethbridge, Alberta; Wendy (Charlie) Langille, Plymouth;
grandchildren, John-Michael Clough, Austin (Cassie) Ettinger, Thomas
Sharpe, Terron Russell, Braden Clough, Tabatha Clough, Ethan Langille;
great grandchildren, Luka Speer, Malakai Young; sisters, Shirley
Clough, Pictou; Anna-Mae Irving, British Columbia; brothers, Leo
(Beth) Clough, Welsford, Pictou County; Raymond Clough, Joggins;
half-brothers, Joseph (Liz) Rice, Alberta; John “Mannie”
Rice, Pictou; Peter Rice (Donna Smith), Pictou; several nieces and
nephews. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his
granddaughter, Kaiden Ettinger-Clough; sister, Helen (Peter) Munro;
brothers, Eddie Clough, Johnny Clough, Jimmy Clough, one in
infancy.
