John Robert ‘John R’ Cummingham
1945-2021
Cunningham, John Robert “John
R” – Age 76 of Havendale, Guysborough
County passed away peacefully on Friday, July 2, 2021 in Guysborough
Memorial Hospital. John R was the son of the late William
“Bill” Cunningham and Margaret (Bray)
Cunningham.
John R lived a life with lots of family and friends. John R
was a special uncle to all of us and we shared many good times
together. He had a phenomenal memory – he was our go to – ask John R –
he always had the answer whether it was family info or an important
date. He chatted with everyone he met. John R would often go to the
laundromat where he met and socialized with many people. I am sure he
always had a story to tell them about who was related and where they
came from. John R loved animals (especially his cat Tammy), gardening,
playing cards and music.
Family and friends would gather
at the homestead to listen to him play guitar and sing. He loved Elvis
Presley’s music. He also loved collecting coins and stamps. John R was
a member of St Patrick’s Church, Guysborough Intervale.
John R is survived by his sister, Eleanor Carter and
brothers-in-law, Ambrose Wallace and Carmen Greencorn; 9 nieces, 7
nephews, 12 great-nieces, 12 great-nephews, 5 great-great nieces and 6
great-great nephews. John R was predeceased by his sisters, Patricia
Greencorn and Marie Wallace; cousin and family member, Jack Cleary;
brother-in-law, Clayton Carter; nieces, Patsy and Marlene Wallace and
nephew, John Allan Wallace.
Special thanks to Dr. Bell and Dr. Ranjini, palliative care
nurses and staff of Milford Haven Home – everyone who cared for John R
during the past year. Your kindness will not be
forgotten.
In keeping with John R’s wishes, there will be no visitation.
