John R. Mowat, 79, of Moncton, with
his loving family at his side, passed away peacefully at The Moncton
Hospital on Monday, September 13, 2021. Born in Minto, he was the son
of the late Donald and Ruth (Rosengren)
Mowat.
John graduated with Engineering from
the University of New Brunswick and became a Professional Engineer who
worked at The Department of Transportation for the Federal Government.
He went on to work for 35 years as the Chief Building Inspector for
the City of Moncton. John was a dedicated and faithful member of The

years, especially as a special events usher. He was a co-founder of
The Moncton Kiwanis Minor Basketball Association, co-founder of the
Harrison Trimble Friends of the Trojans, served on the National
Science Research Council – National Building Committee
Board, as well as The NB Board of Civil

John enjoyed bowling, golfing, a game
of Rook and relaxation in his rocking chair. John was first and
foremost a family man, and that is how he will always be remembered.
He was his grandchildren’s #1 fan, and attended many of
their basketball games, rarely missing a
game.
John will be sadly and deeply missed
by his loving wife of 54 years, Marilyn Mowat (Carson); his children,
