Obituary of John “Jack” Mann
It is with great regret that the family of John “Jack” Mann announce his passing on March 10, 2021, in Quispamsis, NB. Jack was the oldest son of the late Edith (MacKenzie) Mann and John Herbert Mann of Campbellton, New Brunswick.
Jack attended the local schools and was active in high school rugby, basketball, hockey and baseball. In 1955 Jack married Eleanor Joyce Springer, a local teacher. Jack worked for the CNR until 1958 when he and Eleanor moved to Saint John where he was employed with Canada Packers. They later moved to Moncton where son, John David and daughter, Catherine Louise were born. In 1968 the family moved to Sus and later to Abbotsford, BC, Saskatoon and Winnipeg. In 1982 it was back to Sus where Jack later retired to spend many winters in Florida and summers on his beloved golf course. He was also a member of the 1986 provincial champion Seniors Curling team that represented New Brunswick at the National Championships.
Jack is survived by wife, Eleanor; son, John (Barb Spivak) of Georgetown, Ontario; daughter, Dr. Cathy Mann (Dr. Kris Poduska) of St. John’s, NL; as well as grandchildren, Nicole and Jodie Mann of Georgetown, Ontario. Predeceased by his parents and three brothers, Murdock (Joan), Mackenzie (Diane) and Kirk (Ann); as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins. The family would like to extend their thanks to Sus Drs. Stevenson and Butler, and also to the entire staff of Embassy Hall in Parkland Shannex (Quispamsis) for their excellent and compassionate care.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424). A celebration of Jack’s life will be held in the summer for family, friends and Shannex staff members.
