John ‘Jack’ William Cook Saturday August 21st 2021

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. John ‘Jack’ William Cook on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at the age of 66 years. ‘Jack’ ‘Jackie’ ‘Jackie boy’ was born to Bill and Eva on October 30, 1954, and raised in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. The second eldest son, Jack followed older brother, Jim. Then came brother, Randy and sister, Marcy. Jack had an adventurous childhood with his brothers, often causing their mom a lot of stress. He attended Walter Murray High School in Saskatoon, and later ventured off into cooking. Working at The Station in Naicam, Saskatchewan, he met Angie LeStrat in 1976, and fell in love. They later married on June 9, 1979 and their family started to take shape. They started raising their family of three girls, Trina, Jamie and Danielle in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; alongside owning a Pool Hall, (his greatest hobby and passion) and later a family restaurant. Jack moved the family to Red Deer, Alberta in 1992; to follow a job opportunity. Jack ran numerous restaurants and often commuted back and forth from Edmonton. After a divorce in 1999, Jack primarily resided in Edmonton, Alberta, managing Bo Diddley’s and still commuting to Red Deer, where he managed the second location. Taking a job at the Sylvan Lake Golf Course is where he met and fell in love with Tracy Epp. Jack quickly became a step dad to four more kids, TreAuna, Samson, Emmalia and Aimee; all of whom he instantly adored. We often refer to them as his bonus kids. After another divorce, Jack began to focus more on his career, where Blue Sage Catering was born. Preparing all the meals for the Meals on Wheels program, catering many weddings and opening the restaurant; where he was famous for his burgers and pizza. Jack was a kind, gentle man with a huge heart. A work ethic, vision and drive that was hard to match. He will forever be remembered for his love of great music, playing pool, his incredible food and the love for his family and friends. Jack will be lovingly remembered by his daughters, Trina Cook Dorman (Jeremy), Jamie Cook, Danielle Cook, his bonus kids, TreAuna Riaboy (Sasha), Samson Epp, Emmalia Epp, Aimee Epp and also his grandchildren, Riley Call, Audrey Lee, Hank Lee and his bonus grandchildren, Hodoya Riaboy, Yoseph Riaboy and Tzophia Riaboy. He will also be sadly missed by his siblings, Jim Cook (Janice) of Mission B.C, Randy Cook of Langley, B.C., and Marcy Cowie (Brian) of New Westminster, B.C; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Jack was predeceased by his mother, Eva Mayes and father, Bill Cook. If desired, Memorial donations in Jack’s honor may be made to the Red Deer Hospice Society at www.reddeerhospice.com. Condolences may be sent or viewed at www.parklandfuneralhome.com. Arrangements in care of Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, 6287 – 67 A Street (Taylor Drive), Red Deer. 403.340.4040.
