John Howieson Hotson passed away on April 30, 2021 at St. Marys Memorial Hospital in his 91st year.
Husband of Irene (nee Burnard) married 64 years. Father of John Daniel Hotson (deceased 2006) and his wife Denise Hotson of St. Marys, Susan Chambers and husband Alex (deceased 2020) of Portage La Prairie, Jim and Mandy Hotson of Fergus and William and Janet Hotson of Avonbank. Grandfather of Darrell (Crystal), Donald, Christopher, Esmee, Seumas, Jennie, Kayla (Karch), Johnathan (Tanna). Great-grandchildren Daniel, Kylie and Nova. Predeceased by parents John A. Hotson and Marjory (nee Armstrong) and siblings Marybel Edye and her husband Donald and Elizabeth Fairbairn and her husband Tom.
John was a farmer in Avonbank all of his life. He had a passion for history and canoe racing, competing in many Bunny Bundles over the years. He was also a talented builder and fabricator, particularly of canoes, boats and army trucks. John will be dearly missed by friends, neighbours and relatives.
Cremation to take place. A private family gathering will take place at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to the Avonbank Community Church, Avonbank Cemetery or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
