JOHN H. McKoen – January 3, 1942 – February 18, 2021
In his 80th year, passed away at Hospice Simcoe, Barrie with his family by his side, on Thursday, February 18, 2021. Loving husband, father, son, brother, proud papa, great Papa and uncle. A kind man, friend and father. Always ready with advice and quick to lend a hand. Handyman and fixer of pretty much anything. Always happiest when family and friends gathered. Professional garage band guitar enthusiast. Born and raised in Bracebridge, John was a retired member of the Barrie Fire Department after a long standing career. Survived by his wife and best friend, Karla McKoen, brother to Marianne Walling (Paul), and Catherine Taylor (Richard), loving father to John Mckoen Jr. and Tamara Fabiano (Tony), stepfather to Lisa McKee and Heidi Stoate (Tom). Proud Papa to Devan Charron, Liam Smiley, David Stoate and great Papa to Jameson Charron as well as loving uncle to many nieces and nephews. John is predeceased by his parents, John and Dorothy McKoen and brother, Douglas McKoen. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In memory of John, donations may be made to Hospice Simcoe, Barrie in lieu of flowers.
