À la mémoire de
John Henry Boese
22 juillet 1939 –
6 novembre 2021
Our beloved Dad John, also known as Johnnie, passed away peacefully at the age of 82, with his son Mark by his side on Saturday, November 6, 2021, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hamilton.
Motivating father who cherished his kids, Mark (Sandra), Susan (Don) & Jennifer (Jeremy) and proud Opa to Stephanie (Sam), Megan, Ashley (Derek), Ryan (Shae), Jackson, Lucas, Jett, Danika, Tyler, and Tiffany. Great Opa to Ryan’s baby Raelynn. Predeceased by his parents John Boese Sr., Margaret Dyck, brother David and ex-wife Judy; Survived by sisters Ellie Ruddle, Telsie Boese and Barbara Ruel, and loving soul mate Gloria Stevenson. Uncle and great uncle to many nieces and nephews spanning from Ontario to Florida and all the way to Hawaii.
John had a magnetic personality and had the ability to make light of any challenge that came his way. He was friendly and kind to anyone who crossed his path and could charm his way through any situation.
John was an inventive entrepreneur and used his skills from working at the Boese family canning business in St. Catharines to start a juice factory from the ground up. JB Food Industries Granny Smith Apple Juice could be found on every shelf in the grocery stores and in the fridges of family homes nationwide. It wasn’t without great sacrifice, but it was his passion and he worked hard to make his dream come true. Even during his final days, he was dreaming up new products to introduce to the market.
John loved to cook; enjoyed entertaining and sharing a bottle of wine with friends and family and could be found on the golf course any day of the week during the prime of his life. In his youth, he loved his cars, goofing off with his cousin Art and best friend Al, while flirting with girls every step of the way. John was creative and talented, able to strum a tune on the guitar, sing and even tinker the ivories on the piano. He could be quite a ham; loved to pull pranks and enjoyed a good laugh.
In his senior years, John was struck with several ailments and ultimately Dementia took a strong hold on his spirit. As his memory began to fail and the disease took control, John still maintained his charming disposition and dry humour, making friends again and again. We will surely miss our good times with him!
Please join the family for a Celebration of John’s life on Sunday, November 14, 2021, between 2:00 – 4:00pm at Bay Gardens Funeral Home. 1010 Botanical Drive, Burlington, ON.

Death notice for the town of: Burlington, Province: Ontario
I have many fond memories of John dating back to when our son Dan, and his son Mark were as teenagers, rivals in hockey in Port Credit. Playing bridge with John & Judy and Kathy & I while downing “rusty nails” Preparing a P & L forecast and Pro-forma Balance Sheet for his new venture “J’B Foods” and then working there as “Director of Finance” Boating at his late partner, Bob Jantz’s marina, Beacon Bay. Having several meaningful phone discussions over the past 20 or so years. Kathy & I send our deepest sympathy to Mark, Susan and Jennifer at this most difficult time.
Jeff, Thank you so much for your kind words and great memories of Dad. You and Kathy came up in conversation several times these past few weeks as we reminisced the good time over the years! I just love hearing the stories and reconnecting with old friends – Dad was so good at making friends everywhere! Please stay in touch, via FB or IG – would love to see and hear what your family has been up to!
Fondly, Sue (Boese) Taylor
