Beloved husband of 51 years to Margaret; dear father to Karen (Rob), Philip (Kim) and Randy (Dee) and grandfather to Scott, Kristy, James, Ashley (Kyle), Cayla (Alex), Zack, Nick (Andrea) and Miranda (Chris); great grandfather to Caleb and Katie. Wonderful neighbour and friend to so many.
John lived a full and meaningful life right until the end, always doing things on his own terms. Born in Burton upon Trent, England, John served in the Royal Artillery 45th Field Regiment and moved to Canada in 1955. He worked at Domtar / Canada Brick for more than 30 years, along with many years of service at Crime Stoppers, Lion’s Club and his local condominium corp. In retirement, he and his wife Margaret loved to travel the world with a particular fondness for sunny Florida.
John had many hobbies and talents which he excelled at. A great artist, avid swimmer, member of the rowing club, crossword whiz and lover of cars/ships, he was ever-curious and lived every day to the fullest. John will be remembered as a strong man with a big heart; he had a sharp mind, one-of-a-kind wit, gift for conversation and was a true perfectionist. He is already missed immensely by those who loved him.
Thank you to the incredible nursing staff at Oakville Trafalgar Hospital, Dr. Thomson, Dr. Sapir and the many others whose care and assistance have meant so much.
