John’s Obituary
John Francis Gibbons, aged 75, is now reunited with the love of his life, Anne. He passed peacefully away at the Health Science Center, on March 23, 2021, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in St. Vincent’s, SMB, on August 19, 1945. John was a hard worker. He worked as a linesman and in construction most of his younger years. He then moved on to work as a park officer until his retirement from Parks Canada. He loved a game of poker, a good song and a great yarn. He had many a good story to tell. His laughter and quick wit did not die with him, as it will live in the hearts of his children: Cheryl “Cherie” (Sheldon), Charlene (Darrin), John and grandchildren: Courtney, Brent, Nicholas, Anna, and Layla, whom he loved to the moon and back. He has left us all with some great stories to tell.
He was a wonderful Dad who loved to spend time with family and friends, including his brothers Cas (Bernadette) and Gerald; sisters: Agnes, Lillian (Harold), Liz (Matt) and Bev, as well as his sisters-in-law Monnie and Marg. He also shared many fond memories with members of the Molloy family, including: Ronnie (Sylvia), Leonard (Vonnie), Cyril, Donald (Valerie), Madonna Fleming (Pat), Betty Kielly (Bill), Theresa Critch (Larry), Martina Cahill, Marlene Molloy and Cecilia Christopher. John is predeceased by his loving wife Anne; parents Sebastian & Dominica Gibbons; mother-in-law and father-in-law Elizabeth & Len Molloy; sister Geraldine; brothers: Walter, Tim and Vince and brother-in-laws: Dermot Halleran, Neil Fleming, Hughie Kielly, Ron Critch, Peter Molloy, Eddie Molloy and Kevin Christopher.
