John passed away peacefully on November 3rd at Orillia Soldiers Memorial Hospital in his 84th year. Loving brother to Harry Mason, Ruth Newhall (Earl predeceased) and Bill Mason (Sandy). Proud Uncle to Leslie, Cindy, Brent (predeceased), Ryan, Shannon, Glenn and Michael and Great Uncle to Morgan, Chas and Ethan. He was predeceased by his parents Jack and Anita and his sisters Sharon and Sally.
He will be remembered for his sense of humour and his love of birds and the outdoors. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing golf as well as riding his bike in Orillia where he would stop to chat with his friends. He was always willing to offer a helping hand to friends and family and his kindness will not be forgotten. He took great pride in making contributions to various charities. John enjoyed telling stories about his career as an electrician which allowed him many adventures throughout Ontario and took him as far as The Bahamas.
His family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to his doctors and to all of the staff who cared for him during his stay at the hospital.
Following John’s wishes, cremation has already taken place. Interment at Fairview Cemetery, Niagara Falls will be planned for a later date. Donations in John’s memory to Orillia Soldiers Memorial Hospital (4th Floor Integrated Medical Rehabilitation Services) would be gratefully appreciated by the family.
