LANG, John Douglas (Retired Firefighter from the City of Scarborough)
Our quiet, gentle, kind dad and grandpa passed away peacefully at Princess Gardens, on Friday, June 4, 2021 at the age of 90. Beloved husband of the late Doris (nee Holgate) d. December 12, 2003. John will be forever remembered by his children, David (Nancy), Douglas and Mary (Dave). Dear grandpa of Benjamin (Maya), Meggie (Jim), Nicolas (Dayna), Alexa, Jacob (Kelley) and Lucas (Tori) and dear great-grandpa of Kian and Harper Lang, Brynn and Olive Rowlinson, and Marley and Myles Lang. John grew up on the Lang family farm in Camborne with his parents Matilda and Norman Lang and five siblings (Geordia, Norma, Arthur, Margaret and Harold). In 1960, John became a proud member of the Scarborough Fire Department, retiring in 1990. In his retirement years, he and Mom did some travelling, he volunteered at PRHC delivering mail, he played shuffleboard and euchre, and he enjoyed desserts – especially ice cream. Many thanks to the supportive and compassionate team at Princess Gardens Retirement Home and to Dr. Stoker – Dad was able to live his final days in the comfort of his home.
A private Graveside Service will be held at St. Paul’s United Church Cemetery, Cold Springs. In memory of John, donations to the Toronto Fire Fighters Toy Drive or the Alzheimer Society of Canada would be appreciated by the family. Online condolences may be made at www.duffusfuneralhome.com
