Purdy, John “Dalton” – Age 71, Truro. It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of John “Dalton” Purdy of Truro on August 10, 2021 after a long battle with cancer. Dalton was predeceased by his mother, Emeline Adams and father, Burton Purdy. He is survived by daughter, Martha (Martin); son, Matthew (Lindsay); sisters, Paige (David) Moore and Sandra (George) Carter; brothers, Harold (Margie), Ian (Emily), Anthony (Wendy); fiancé, Dawn Parker; step children, Shannon (Mike) Huber and Tyler (Natt) Wilson; many nieces and nephews, as well as six loving grandchildren, Gaia, Ellie, Anna, Isaac, Lily and Tegan, whom he loved dearly.
Dalton worked for a number of years as an insurance adjustor in the Atlantic Provinces and in Fort McMurray, AB. After retirement, he worked part-time at Masstown Market and Chase’s Lobster.
Dalton was known for his great love of babies, pets, music, travelling, motorcycle trips with the boys and fishing (not catching) for sea bass. He was always up for a new adventure and made many new friends along the way.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro, N.S. A private celebration will be held at Spencer’s Point, Great Village at a later date. Donations may be made to the North Cumberland Memorial Hospital, Pugwash, NS. A special thank you to Martha Ferguson and the entire care team for their support during Dalton’s time there.
