John Burton’s Obituary
John “Burton” Fitzgerald
March 13,1932 – November 4,2021
We all know this part of life and unfortunately everyone has to go thought this. We just did not think this would happen again so soon, especially, after just losing our dear mother in February. We can all take solace in knowing someday we will all be reunited again. Our loving father, brother, uncle and friend slipped away peacefully at the Villa St. Joseph du Lac, on November 4, 2021 with his family by his side. Born in Little River Harbor, on March 13, 1932, to the late Ralph and Cedulie (Harris) Fitzgerald. Burt as everyone knew him was a veteran of the Korean War. When returning home, Dad and his friend Stephen decided to stop for something to eat at the Metropole Café. On this day he met the waitress, Ida. After their courtship they married and enjoyed 64 years of marriage together. Dad was a fisherman and painter for J.J. Saulnier. He was an outdoorsman spending more time outside then in. He always had his harmonica with him, just in case he needed it. Burt always looked forward to hunting season, deer, rabbit and duck. Going fishing or just a sail in one of his punts he would build himself. He was always tinkering with cars, lawn mowers or anything mechanical. Not a mechanic by trade, but he had no problem fixing his or his family and friend’s cars. He also enjoyed going out for evening drives looking for deer. Dad is survived by his sons Alan (Louise), Argyle; Daryl (Karen), Yarmouth; Glen (Norma), Abram’s River; grandson Adam, Yarmouth; granddaughters Kailey and Daylynn, Fort Erie ON; Brothers, James, Arcadia; Paul (Joan), Little River; David (Vicky), Abram’s River; Bernie (Myrna), New Hamshire; sisters, Catherine (Carroll) Saulnier, Pinkneys Point; Lillian (Richard) Harvey, Sackville, and Barbara (Richard) Muise, Meteghan. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife Ida, daughter Donna; brothers, Willard, Joseph, Lloyd, Clarence, Arthur, Carl, Delmar, Louise, Cecil and Arthur in infancy. The family would like to thank Dr. Roland Muise. A huge thank you to the staff at the Villa St. Joseph for all the care and compassion. Dad loved you all and we knew he always said he loved you. Burial will take place at a later date, spring of 2022. Memorial donations in Burt’s memory can be made to the Villa St. Joseph-du-Lac .
