1943-2021
John Bertram Borden, 77, New Glasgow, son of John
Bertram Borden Sr. and Mary O’ Neil Desmond-Borden, passed away
peacefully at home with family by his side on August 4, 2021. John
proudly served in the Canadian Armed Forces for 25 years and after
retiring in 1985, returned home to care for his ailing mother. John
was a firearms safety instructor for the Province of Nova Scotia and
opened an independent repair business serving clients from around the
world. He was also an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion. John
leaves behind daughters: Denise Marsman, Dartmouth, NS; and Deborah
Borden, Halifax, NS; grandson, Kyle and great-granddaughter, Kyah,
Toronto, ON. He also had special relationships with his nephew Rick
Borden, Ottawa, ON, niece Darlene Burnside, Atlanta, GA, and his
cousin, Wendenelda (Princess) Halfkenny, Ajax, ON. John spent the last
nine years with his loving partner Annelies Collisi. The family would
like to sincerely thank Annelies, Veterans Affairs, the VON and Dr.
Spencer Barclay for their continuous care. Arrangements are under the
direction of R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New
Glasgow.
