Obituary For Joanne Marie Basarab
Joanne Marie Basarab (nee Lazoruk), resident of Spirit River, AB, passed away on Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at the Central Peace Health Complex in Spirit River, at the age of 67 years.
Joanne was born on August 14, 1954, in Grande Prairie, AB, to her loving parents Mike and Rozi Lazoruk. She grew up in Rycroft, AB, and completed high school in Fairview, AB. In the early 80’s, Joanne met and married the love of her life Willie Basarab, and moved to High Prairie, AB. While residing there she established her career as a bookkeeper.
Joanne enjoyed working with the Legion and the Lioness, but her true passions included cooking, knitting, and reading. Her time spent at Pleasant View Lodge made her realize her love of painting.
Joanne will be sadly missed by her brother Alvin Lazoruk; niece Shalena (Aaron) Lazoruk; niece Michelle Lazoruk; nephew Trevor (Tara) Lazoruk; nephew Colten (Stacey) Smith and his children Blake and Ryder; and nephew Tyler Smith and his child Jaxson.
Joanne was predeceased by Willie Basarab; parents Mike and Rozi Lazoruk; brother Barry Lazoruk; sister in-law Angie Lazoruk; as well as niece Baby Lazoruk.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
