Roth, Joanne Charlotte:
The family of Joanne Charlotte Roth (nee Ermel) is sad to announce her peaceful passing on January 8th, 2021, at the age of 88.
Born in Kitchener, Ontario on December 13th, 1932, Joanne was the daughter of Charles and Alice (nee Snider) Ermel, and sister to Rita Groh and Myrtle Foell.
On September 28th, 1957, Joanne married Ralph Roth. He was the love of her life, and together they shared 63 wonderful years together. Family was of the utmost importance to Joanne, and we cherish many happy memories of family camping trips, gatherings, vacations, and the delicious meals she created. She derived much joy from helping others. In recent years, Joanne also took pleasure in the doggie members of the family, the squirrels outside her window, ice cream, and a good game of cards.
Joanne was a devoted mother to her four children: Paula (Ron) Cooley of Saskatoon, Laurie (Terry) Hodgkinson of Kitchener, Lynn Roth of Burlington, and David Roth of Guelph.
She was the beloved Granny to five grandchildren: Sarah Dymond, Amanda (Jeff) McSorley, Alison (Hadley Staite), Stephen (Anya Hamman), and Hannah Cooley (Louis Reed-Wood); and two great-grandchildren, Abigael and Kylan Luke.
Joanne’s family extends a big “thank-you” to the staff at Briarfield Gardens, Grand River Hospital and Freeport palliative care for their support and care throughout this difficult time.
Due to current Covid-19 restrictions there will be no visitation or funeral service. A celebration of Joanne’s life will occur at a later date, when we can gather safely. Flowers are declined with thanks, but donations can be made in Joanne’s memory to World Vision Canada or to the Food Bank of Waterloo Region would be appreciated by the family.
