Joan Marie Blanksma (Donovan)
You are in our hearts forever
Passed away peacefully at the Smiths Falls Hospital on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at 76 years of age. Loving wife of Louie for 56 years, married September 05, 1964. Beloved mother of Elaine (Wayne) and Laurie (Ken). Grandmother (Beppe) of Kurtis and Justin (Heidi). Proud great grandmother of Cambrie, Van and Livvie.
Survived by brother Don (Barb), brother Art (Cathy), sister Diane (Jim), sister Nancy. Predeceased by siblings Margaret and Charlie.
Louie’s family in the Netherlands will sadly miss her.
Joan was the senior member of the Potluck Sisters. She kept Laurie, Sherry, Denise, Cassandra, Christina, Kelly, Lori, Carol and Charlene inline.
Joan loved being with her family and friends. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, serving and helping others, volunteering for the Cancer Society and Salvation Army, crocheting afghans, going out for dinners, celebrating special occasions, shopping and being a loving wife of Louie.
Special thanks to the Paramedics, Hospital Staff, Dr. DuVernet, Sue Connerty, Dr. MrGregor and Debbie, Lannin Funeral Home and to all our friends and family for your kind words and condolences. We are thankful and grateful for the blessing that Joan was in all our lives. She will be sadly missed by all of her friends and family.
Friends may pay their respects at the Lannin Funeral Home on Saturday, February 20, 2021 from 12:00 pm till the time of the service in the Chapel at 2:00pm. As expressions of sympathy donations to the Smiths Falls Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Lannin Funeral Home. Provincial Covid-19 restrictions require the wearing of masks inside the funeral home and graveside with social distancing required by all those not from the same household. The number of attendees may be limited due to capacity restrictions during visitations and services.
