Obituary of Joan Florence Hyslop
It is with great sadness the family would like to announce the passing of Joan Florence (White) (Reece) Hyslop which occurred on January 14, 2021 at the Mill Cove Nursing Home surrounded by her family.
Born in Saint John she was a daughter to the late Phillip & Louise (Gordon) White.
Joan attended the Baptist Church in Chipman, Sus Baptist Church as well as some summers at the Shannon Baptist Church and played piano at the Cumberland Bay Church. She was very strong in her faith. Joan loved quilting and helping others. Joan was also a member of the Ladies Missionary Society and The Gideons. She taught school in Cumberland Bay after graduating in 1949-1950. Joan loved to travel in later years to PEI, Maine and Boston as well as the Bus Tours to New York and Boston.
Joan is survived by her husband, Emery Hyslop of Sus, her sons, Harold (Juanita) Reece of Cumberland Bay and Lawrence (Janet) Reece of Cumberland Bay; her daughter, Wendy (Earle) Branscombe; grandchildren: Andrea, Jennifer, Katherine, Carly, Mitchell, James, Justin and Derrick; her 13 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Joan was predeceased by her first husband, Burton Reece; her brother, Phillip White; her twin sister, Jean White; her infant brother, George Douglas White; her daughter, Faye; her grandchildren, Nathan and Jason.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sus NB from where a private funeral service will be held on Monday, January 18, 2021 at 11AM with Rev. Greg Gray presiding. You may view the funeral via Livestream in the button provided. Interment will be held in the Spring at Cumberland Point Community Cemetery.
