Biggs, Joan, Marjorie (Burrows)
December 11, 1919 – September 5, 2021
Peacefully at Shalom Manor in Grimsby on Sunday September 5, Joan Biggs passed away in her 102nd year. Joan was predeceased by her parents Eva (1962), and Henry (1973) Burrows, her loving husband Ted (1996) of 54 years, her sister Anita Miller (2014), and her granddaughter Brenda. (2015). Dear mother of Bret and his wife Danis (Florida), Doug and his wife Suzanne (Grimsby), and Paul and his wife Barb (St. Catherines). She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren Brandon and his wife Amanda (Collingwood), Kate (Guelph), and Laura (Milton), and her great grandchildren Marshall, Douglas Christopher, and Palmer Jackson.
Joan worked for many years for Dr. Ron Oswald (Chiropractor) in Stoney Creek, and Dr, Colin Walker (Dentist) in Grimsby. Joan was an excellent lifelong seamstress, making a lot of her own clothes as well as those for others. Joan was also an active member of St. Andrews Anglican Church since moving to Grimsby in the 50’s, and volunteered tirelessly for the West Lincoln Memorial Hospital Auxiliary for many years. Joan was also a worthy recipient of the “Paul Harris” fellowship award presented by the Grimsby Rotary Club.
We are eternally grateful to the exceptional staff at Shalom Manor Long Term Care – Lakeview for their loving care. Cremation has taken place with interment for immediate family only at the St, Andrews Anglican Church Cemetery in Grimsby, where she will reunite with both of her parents Eva & Henry Burrows (1962, 1973), and her husband Ted (1996).
Memorial donations to the West Lincoln Memorial Hospital or Auxiliary, or to Shalom Manor Long Term Care in Grimsby would be greatly appreciated.
