Joan Lilian Davis Wednesday September 29th 2021

It is with profound sadness the family of Joan Lilian Davis announces her passing on the morning of September 29, 2021, at Kilean Lodge in Grimsby. She was 93. Predeceased by her devoted husband of 63 years, Stan (2013), and her parents Lilian Amy and Stanley Edgar Miles. Left to honour her spirited pathway in life are her children Michael Davis, Elizabeth McDonald (Mike) and Gillian McGhie (John). She loved and was loved by her grandchildren Laura (Kent) and Heather (Sean) and was deeply proud of her great-grandchildren Greyson and Adelaide. Mom was born in Southgate, England and was a lifelong Londoner. You can take the girl out of London, but not London out of the girl, she would say. An avid lover of theatre, especially musicals, mom taught us the joy and the importance of the arts. Like her husband, Joan had a passion for newspapers and worked at the London Daily Mail. After emigrating to Canada in 1967, mom again worked in the news business as a typesetter for the Georgetown Herald. For some 30 years, mom lived in Bronte and attended Walton United Church where she assisted with baptismal services. There wasn’t a furry animal that mom didn’t love. Cats and dogs were her favourites. For more than a decade, mom struggled with dementia and complex health issues. The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and PSWs (especially at Kilean Lodge) for their compassion and kindness. In lieu of flowers, please give to an animal charity or the Canadian Cancer Society. Heaven will shine brighter today. Mom, you taught us how to live, now we just have to learn how to live without you. Until we meet again. Private cremation has taken place.
