Joan Grace Campbell
1933-2021
Campbell (Lockhart), Joan Grace – 87, of
California, USA, formerly of Truro, passed away peacefully on Sunday,
April 4, 2021. Joan was born in Truro and was a daughter of the late
Carl and Viola (Lawless) Lockhart. She attended Colchester Academy in
Truro and spent her early years in Truro where she met and married the
love of her life, the late Donald Campbell of Scotsburn, Pictou
County, her husband of 62 years.
They moved to California, USA in 1963 where Doug was employed
with the American Telephone Company. They loved dancing which came
easy to them. They belonged to different square dancing clubs where
they met many lifelong friends. They both enjoyed golfing and loved
spending time with their grandchildren. Joan and Doug were a very
outgoing and social couple; their home was always open to many
Canadian and US friends where they enjoyed much humor, jokes and
sharing tales of their travels in Canada and the US.
Joan and Doug never forgot their Canadian roots and many
trips were made back home to Truro and Scotsburn. Their reunions took
place with families filled with laughter, stories and with Joan
sharing her great cooking recipes.
Joan is survived by her two sons, Roderick (Lisa),
California; Michael (Suzanne), Panama; grandchildren, Jason, Jessica
and Alyson, California; nieces, Susan (Aubrey) Ryan; Belinda (Blaine)
Geddes; Joanne Newell; nephews, Greg (Cathy) Murray and many other
nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents, she was predeceased
by her husband, Doug Campbell; sisters, Anne (Alonzo
“Lonnie”) Murray; Elizabeth
“Betty” (Murray) Harb.
Cremation has taken place and interment will be in
