Joan Betty Sheffar 19402021

Joan Betty Sheffar
1940-2021
Joan Betty Sheffar, 80, of Germantown passed away peacefully
on March 18th, 2021 surrounded by family at the Moncton
Hospital.
Joan was born in Durham, Ontario on April 28th, 1940 the
daughter of the late Bruce and Esther (White)
Armstrong.
She worked at General Motors when she lived in
Ontario. Joan and her husband, Carvel, made the
decision to move back to his hometown and headed to Albert
County to raise their family. She loved being in the country
and enjoyed gardening and making her home a beautiful
place. Her flower beds, where she spent a great deal of
time, were very rewarding for her. She worked in
Housekeeping at the Albert County Hospital and later at the Moncton
Hospital where she retired from. She was an avid
BINGO player and went with the girls whenever she could and often took
along her grandson, Dustin. She also enjoyed going to the
blueberry field and helping in the harvest. Her main goal in
life was her family being happy and she always put their needs first.
She loved going to the camp and visiting all her family and
friends. She was from a large family and still kept up on
what was going on in Ontario and how everyone was doing with her daily
calls. She was the type of person who always put others’
needs in front of her own and made sure everyone was happy and nobody
ever went hungry when Joan was around. She was known for her
hospitality and her door was always open. She cherished her
Sunday family suppers and looked forward to them every week.
Joan had a heart of gold and loved to laugh and have fun.
She would help anyone that needed anything and was someone who you
could always count on. Joan’s strength as she battled with
her health problems was unwavering and she was a true inspiration to
all those who knew and loved her. She faced every
challenge with a positive outlook and made
everyone else feel uplifted when they visited with
her. She will be remembered for her great laugh, we can hear
her as we remember all the fun times we shared. She was one
in a million and she will live on forever in our hearts. We
knew she would not want a lot of tears but for everyone to think of
all the good times. She is now reunited with all those who
have gone before her. “Memories of yesterday nourish
the joys of tomorrow.”
She will be deeply missed by her husband, Carvel ; son,
Todd Sheffar (Christine) of Hopewell Hill; her treasured grandson,
Dustin (Tara); sisters, Dorrianne, Marge, Wilma, Esther and Carol;
brothers, Wayne, Russell, Randy and Gary. She will also be
missed by several nieces, nephews, all her extended family
and many good friends.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by her beloved son,
Paul; sisters, Shirley and Verna; brothers, Ivan, Brian, LaVern and
Larry.
There will be a public visitation on Monday, March 22, 2021
from 6-8pm at the Albert County Funeral Home with COVID regulations
being followed. A private funeral service will be held and
be posted on the Albert County Funeral Home youtube Channel and
Facebook page at a later date.
Interment will be in the Hopewell Cemetery, Hopewell Hill,
NB.
For those who wish donations to the Bennett and Albert
County Healthcare Foundation or the Hopewell Cemetery in Joan’s memory
