Obituary of Jessie Kitchen
Jessie Kitchen, of Simcoe, Ontario passed away peacefully at Hannah Walker Retirement Home in Owen Sound, on Wednesday, July 21st, 2021 at the age of 96 years.
Dearly loved wife of the late Monte Kitchen. Dear mother of daughter Kathryn Sager (husband John) of Owen Sound and son Ray Kitchen (wife Debbie) of Caledonia. Proud grandmother of Christopher Sager of Owen Sound. Also, survived by her siblings Reg Woodward of Niagara Falls, Ontario, Mary Bartolomie of Canmore, Alberta and Betty Brooks of Welland, Ontario in addition to numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents; William and Jessie Woodward (nee Creaser) and her siblings Bill and John Woodward.
Over the years Jessie enjoyed her time working at the Norfolk General Hospital in Simcoe in various volunteer positions throughout the hospital. These positions included sales of tuck shop items to patients on the floors as well as manning the visitor’s information desk for many years. She also spent many hours working with other church members preparing dinners for the large bus tours that visited the area annually for the “Simcoe Festival Lights Tour”.
Jessie had also been a member and the First Baptist Church in Simcoe from 1935 to the present a total of 86 plus years and also received a recognition for being the longest living member at this church.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Oakwood Cemetery in Simcoe, Ontario, at 11:00 am on August 5th, 2021.
