Jessie’s Obituary
With heavy hearts, the family of Jessie Burke, 89, announce her passing on May 21, 2021 after a lengthy illness.
Mom was born on September 13, 1931 in Boxey, Newfoundland to John and Gaden Stewart. She moved to Halifax, Nova Scotia, where she met her husband, George Burke. They married on May 26, 1952, and raised a family of three. They moved to Valleyview, Alberta in 1977 to be closer to their eldest daughter, Lillian, and their first grandchild.
Mom enjoyed sewing, knitting, baking and most of all, playing cards.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Lillian (Norman) Leslie; Judy (the late Guy) L’Heureux and Glenn (Leslie) Burke. Her seven grandchildren, Carrie-Anne (Reg) Werklund; Brian (Joëlle) Leslie; Justin (Julie) L’Heureux; Angèle (Jeff) Vaters; Aubrey, Evan and Maisie Burke. Also her four great grandchildren, Braiden, Halen, Cooper Werklund and Émilia Leslie; plus many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Our Mom’s wish was to be cremated and interred at the Valleyview & District Cemetary, next to her husband, George.
A family graveside service will be held.
A special thank you to the staff at the Valleyview Hospital, Long-Term Unit, for our Mom’s care.
“Forever in our hearts”
