Jean Audrey Marie Wakem Harris 2021

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jean Audrey Marie Harris on July 17th, 2021, embraced by her family at home. She was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Mom will join her forever and eternal love, her husband, Garnet who predeceased her in 2013.
Born in West Nissouri Township to parents William and Ruth (Hall) Wakem, the youngest daughter of eight children. Predeceased by her siblings and their spouses: Helene (Lloyd), Leonard, Wilma (Glen), Raymond, (Alonzo) and Thomas (Ruth). Survived by Audrey, Donna, Betty (Jack) and Jack (Joyce).
Jean worked as a Bell Telephone supervisor in London, prior to marrying her soulmate, Garnet ,on June 4th, 1955. They were devoted partners, working together to establish a successful dairy operation. Garnet and Jean enjoyed dancing at local dance venues, especially Lakeside Dance Hall. Together, they raised and were proud of their five children: Debra Morrison (Ron), Helen Aicken (Kevin), Dan Harris (Shelley), Mary Harris (Paul) and Phil Harris (Saleshni). Cherished by her grandchildren: Meghan (Ben), Cole (Angela), Nicole, Clayton (Stephanie), Blake (Alexis), Renée (Michael), Dana (Drew), Clint, Luke (Heather), Dean (Hannah), Sam (Amber), Kieran and Wyatt. Also predeceased by grandson William, stillborn in 1987.
Jean was always an advocate for spending quality time with all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, including attending their extracurricular events and making sure family time was special. Jean was a talented designer and seamstress, creating the latest fashions for her family and herself. Jean loved to travel, cook and bake for her family, and garden. She enjoyed playing euchre and was an avid reader. She instilled strong work ethics, kindness and empathy, while advocating education and goal accomplishments. Her favourite message: “You can accomplish anything if you put your mind to it.”
Mom, you made us feel loved and that was the most important thing of all.
