It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the loss of Jean Arleen Midgard (Henton), age 87, who passed away in her cherished home on November 24th 2021. Jean was born on March 24th 1934 in Port Arthur (Thunder Bay), then adopted at an early age by Albert and Maggie Henton where she was raised in Kenora by a loving family. In 1953, she married Martin Midgard and together they had five wonderful children.
Jean had the biggest heart and a joyous love of life, this was evident to everyone whose life she touched. It was a well known fact that her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were everything to her. Her sense of adventure was contagious and it is perhaps because of her adventurous spirit that she spent many years travelling with her husband Martin and the hydro colonies all over northern Ontario or visiting beautiful countries with her dearest friends. She always told everyone that one day she would write a book of all of her stories and adventures and there is no doubt that it would have been a real page-turner.
One of her greatest joys in life came from her faith and belief in her creator. Jean was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1971. In all her years as a witness, her faith and zeal never wavered, always active in the ministry spreading the good news of the Kingdom. Even in her final years she quickly and eagerly learned how to use her tablet in order to be present at all her meetings. She was an integral part of the Hanmer congregation and her smiling face will be greatly missed by all.
Jean is survived by both of her brothers Lloyd (Toni) and Donnie (Linda). She is also survived by her children Darrell, Donald Lloyd (pre-deceased), Martin (Wendy), Darnell (Keith), and Rae-Ann. She will forever be in the hearts of her grandchildren; Shawn, Martin Jr (Kirsten), Tyler (Rachel), Michael (Stephanie), Ryley (Jenny), and Bradie, and in the hearts of her four great grandchildren; Ryan, Jace, Mikaya and Sawyer. She also leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews.
A virtual memorial service will be held for Jean on December 5th, 2021 at 2pm. Please contact a member of the family for instructions on how to attend. As per Jean’s wishes, her ashes will be spread on family land in Kenora at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Sudbury Park Lawn Cremation Services.
