Jean Louise Labradore-Powers
1953-2021
It is with profound sadness the family of Jean
Louise Labradore-Powers announce her passing on Friday, November 5,
2021 in the QEII-Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. Her true enormous
heart stopped beating on November 7, with her loved ones by her side,
as she gave the miracle of life by being an organ donor. Born in
Berwick, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Dora May (Bent)
Labradore.
For those
who were fortunate enough to know Jeannie, you know that she had the
biggest heart and an incredible love for her family and her community.
Jean was an incredible mother, sister, wife, auntie, Councilor and
friend but the role she cherished most was grandmother. Whether it was
driving someone to an appointment, planning the Remembrance Day
memorial, visiting the elders, showing pictures of her grandchildren,
or sitting in an office and comforting a staff member, Jeannie was
there for us all. We are going to miss her fashionable clothes and her
big heart, her dedication to the members of this community and her
infectious laugh.
Jeanie loved
to garden in her many gardens. Her artistic talents were in all she
did whether it was painting, drawing or decorating. She loved to read;
this love helped her achieve many diplomas over the years. Jeanie was
a selfless person always putting others first and always saw the good
in everyone. She always made everything special and never missed a
chance to give a card or a little something to make someone feel
special. She was always the best listener and could talk to
anyone… and boy did she love to talk!!! A true pillar of
wisdom and kindness. Anyone blessed to have met Jeanie always came out
a better person. You could never meet a more genuine and classy lady.
She was an angel on earth and now in
heaven.
Jean is
survived by her husband, Mark Powers; daughter, Melanie (James) Morse;
son, John Silver (Tracey Kane); sisters, Elizabeth (Kenneth) Eye,
Deborah Labrador, Doris Labradore and Donna Labradore; brothers,
Robert Labradore (Glenna Hemmings), Joseph (Anne) Labradore and
Darrell Labradore; stepmother, Brenda Labradore; grandchildren, Birch
and Finch Morse and Savannah Silver; as well as many nieces, nephews,
extended family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was
predeceased by her sister, Diane; and brothers, Lester, Charles Jr.,
and William “Billy”.
The family
would like to thank all the staff at the QEII-Halifax Infirmary for
all their care and kindness. There will be no visitation. The funeral
service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 14, 2021 in the
