Jean Elizabeth Robertson
1926-2021
The family of Jean Elizabeth (Miller) Robertson sadly
announce her passing at Pine Grove Nursing Home on Thursday, the
9th of December, 2021. Born on
February 5th, 1926, in Beebe, Quebec, she was
the daughter of Elizabeth J. (Parkhill) and Leon W.
Miller.
Jean was the epitome of a homemaker and provided her family
with everything “made from scratch”. She filled
her days with a morning walk, knitting socks, making multigrain bread,
trying new recipes and baking for her sweet tooth…and
anyone else’s. For years she looked forward to
quilting on Tuesday afternoons with the St. Paul’s United
Church Ladies maintaining she was better at providing squares for
their afternoon tea than she was at quilting.
Jean was a voracious reader. She had a great sense
of humour and enjoyed a good political or historical discussion, a
challenging crossword puzzle, a witty greeting card, gardening,
feeding the birds, attending auctions, genealogy, Jeopardy and
watching curling.
Jean is survived by her children, Allan (Jane), Keith
(Cheryl), Patricia (Sean Key) and Ian (Karen); six
grandchildren, Tracey, Jim, Margaret, Kathryn, Hannah and Ewan; six
great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and her attentive,
thoughtful friend, Janet Proude.
She was predeceased by her husband, James MacKenzie
Robertson; her brother, James Miller; sisters Mary Holden and Patricia
Coburn.
The family is appreciative to the staff at Pine Grove for
taking care of Jean in her last few months.
Jean had hoped for a celebration of her life with “fine
wine and quality cheese” but due to COVID restrictions, a private
graveside ceremony will take place at The Griffin Cemetery, Griffin,
Quebec at a later date.
In the summer of 2018, the transition from Jean’s
home of 50 years in Skyline Acres to Farraline Place was
seamless. Over the past three years she often referred to
Farraline as “the home” and was very happy there for close
to two years. For those who wish, the family would be
grateful for donations to Farraline Place, 776 Queen Street,
Fredericton, NB E3B 1C6; the Fredericton SPCA (she was
extremely fond of her granddogs and all dogs) or a charity of
choice.
