Obituary
McCURDY, Jean Dianne
After a long struggle with Lupus and cancer, the death of Jean Dianne McCurdy BSCN occurred on Thursday, August 26th, 2021 at Hospice Peterborough. She is survived by her sisters Doreen Novak of Pembroke and Betty Sandrin of London and their families. Jean was born in Kirkland Lake. As a St.Michael’s Hospital Toronto graduate she worked in various positions in K.L., Los Angeles, Calgary and Peterborough. During this time Jean became drawn to Obstetric nursing. Encouraged by a local physician, she qualified in midwifery at Queen Mother’s Hospital, Glasgow Scotland. After a short period with Peterborough Hospital, she then obtained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Laurentian University. In Peterborough, Jean earned a position teaching in the nursing program at Sir Sandford Fleming College until illness forced retirement. Jean began a new career as a certified breeder of Birman cats. This has led to many life-long friendships, not only locally, but in many other parts of the world. Respecting Jean’s wishes, there will be no service. Cremation has taken place. As an expression of sympathy, donations to Hospice Peterborough in Jean’s name will be greatly appreciated. Online condolences may be made at www.highlandparkfuneralcentre.com
