Obituary of Jason Nicholls
The family of Jason Arthur Nicholls of Owen Sound, sadly announce he passed away at his home on Tuesday February 16th 2021 in his 56th year. Jason was born in York Toronto to parents Bruce and Lillian Barclay, and 7 years later was adopted by Ernie and Carrol Nicholls of Markdale, along with his little sister Selina.
Jason is survived by his best friend and beloved wife of 33 years, Donna Nicholls of Owen Sound; his son Jason Jr Connelly of Port Elgin; daughters Nakita and Amber Nicholls of Owen Sound; 8 beautiful grandchildren: Chase, Chloe, Miah, Clarence, Penelope, Lalah, Audrey, and Adelaide; his sisters Cindy Barclay (Vorich) of Brockville and her children Alanna and Jon Vorich; Selina Cameron of Hillsboro-Oregon (USA) and her sons Tylor and Ben Lourie; Susan Hill and Pam Petch of Markdale; and brother Ernie Nicholls Jr, also of Markdale; Donna’s twin sister Janet Govereau, her two brother’s Bob and Doug Slade, all of Owen Sound, and many other neices and nephews on both sides; and Jason’s step mom Kim Trescott/Barclay of Ottawa. Jason is predeceased by his biological parents Bruce and Lillian Barclay, Donna’s parents George (Ted) and Margaret Slade, and Jason’s biological brothers Wayne and Brent Barclay and his nephew Duncan Lourie.
Jason is remembered for his love, laughter and passion for whatever he put his mind to, including his walks and hikes amongst nature with his wife and 2 dogs Shylow and Mylow. He also loved spending time with his bird Harley, and his many aquatic friends at home. Jason loved to hike, walk, and stroll through Harrison Park, as well as the many trails througnout and around the Owen Sound area. Jason’s greatest passion was to live, love, and laugh to the fullest, to which he strived to do on a daily basis.
A private memorial service to celebrate Jason’s life will be held in the chapel of the Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, 250 14th Street West, Owen Sound, Ontario N4K 3X8 519-376-7492 on Wednesday, March 3rd, 2021 with Major Gordon Armstrong officiating. Friends are welcome to watch the service at 11:00 a.m. via livestream by selecting the ‘LIVE STREAMING’ menu option at the top right corner of the funeral home website (woodfuneralhome.ca).
