Obituary
Jaroslaw ‘Jerry’ SWERYDA B. Nov.10, 1928 in Pukiw, Ukraine, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Nov. 7, 2021. Despite his advancing dementia, he continued to entertain the staff and residents, playing his harmonica at the Maple Ridge Seniors Village, where he has resided for the past 2 years. Predeceased by his wife Edelin ‘Adeline’ Sweryda (Nee:Ostrowercha) and father Stephan Sweryda and his mother Katherine. He is survived by his son Don (Sandy), daughter Kathy, grandchildren Nicholas (Lesley), Paul (Alexandra) and Natalie (Jordan), great granddaughters Brooklyn, Keira and Kinsley and many in-laws, nieces and nephews. He was an active member of the Ukrainian Catholic Church of Holy Cross Parish, Surrey BC. Jerry was a longtime resident of Windsor, Ontario after immigrating form Ukraine then moved to Pitt Meadows, BC where he resided for the past 25 years. He loved gardening and was very active in the Pitt Meadows Community Garden where you could find him most days until his health gave out. A private service will be held for immediate family. At the request of family, no flowers please. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of BC.
