Obituary of Janny Planta
Janny Planta passed away peacefully at University Gates on Monday, February 22, 2021 in her 93rd year.
Beloved wife of the late Rudolf Planta (2013). Loving mother of Jack (Laurie), Henry (Joan), Ron (Cheryle) and Marianne. Beloved Oma of Cheryl (Tim), Jennifer (Brad), Kristen (Zac), Gillian (Paul), Justin, Vicki; Great Oma to Emma and Abbey, Olivera and Elijah, Harlow and Cohen. Also survived by a sister Mien, a sister-in-law Bep and many caring nieces and nephews, all in The Netherlands. Predeceased by sisters Bertha and Riet, a brother Roelof, brother-in-laws Bertus, Jan and Piet.
Born in The Netherlands, Janny was fearless in her journeys with Rudy, immigrating from country to country, taking on snakes and porcupines in Australia, rats and wasp nests in Canada. She enjoyed knitting for her family, needlepoint, skating in her younger years, singing, playing a tune on her harmonica and the odd time you could catch her performing a juggling act in the kitchen. Janny will be remembered by many as sweet, kind, gentle and always having a happy smile on her face.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to the caring staff at University Gates that personally cared for Janny during the last 4 years in the Pollock Neighbourhood.
Cremation has taken place and a private family gathering at Parkview Cemetery will occur at a later date.
