Obituary of Jan deKoning
DeKONING, Jan – Peacefully with his wife and son by his side, Jan deKoning died at Vision Nursing Home on Sunday, October 17, 2021 at the age of 71. Beloved husband of Emilia “Mellie” (nee Quinit). Loving father of Chris deKoning, Toronto. Dear brother of Gerritt deKoning, Sarnia, Robert deKoning, Angus, Nettie Schoenmakers, and Rita Slagboom, Holland. Special uncle to Lorain, Warren, Mark, Christine, Rene, Gigi, Jennifer, and Stephanie. He will be lovingly remembered by his Quinit in-laws. Predeceased by his parents Jeannette & Gerritt de Koning.
Jan was a plant manager with Procor for over 30 years. He had a passion to travel, play golf, curl and moose hunting. Jan was a long time member of the Moose Lodge, Sarnia.
Visitation will be held at the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home, 431 N. Christina St., Sarnia, on Friday, October 22, 2021, from 5 to 8 p.m. Sign up is not required. Please note that masks/face coverings are mandatory and maximum visitors at one time and social distancing will be strictly enforced. A private service will be held in the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Chapel followed by interment at Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery.
