Jan Aldous 1941 2021

Obituary of Jan Aldous
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jan on September 26, 2021, in Edmonton, Alberta. Jan passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 80 years.
Jan will be dearly missed by her loving husband of 36 years, Terry; daughter Tracy (Edmonton); son Todd (Barrie); brother Fred (Lois) Brown of Oshawa, Ontario; sisters Barb (Jim) Theis of Orillia, Ontario and Cheri (Tony) Circelli of London, Ontario. She will also be missed by many nieces and nephews.
Jan was a strong, proud lady who survived cancer in 2009 and a second major operation two years later. She put herself through Nait and she held a number of high profile jobs. Jan worked at Monsanto for ten years where she met Terry. She also worked for the Western Lottery Corporation before moving on to Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission. She then went on to be an executive assistant at the Alberta Legislature from which she retired. In that capacity she was lucky enough to meet the Queen when she visited Alberta and met another special person, Barb Tarbox.
Jan’s love for cooking was evident as she loved to entertain. She took many gourmet cooking classes. Cooking for 1 or 14 made no differnce to her. Those lucky enough to have eaten at our house left with a truly amazing culinary experience. Jan was a beautiful seamstress who sewed clothes for herself, Todd and Tracy. Saturday nights during hockey season were reserved for her beloved Edmonton Oilers. She was a true friend and would be there to help anyone who needed it. Jan served on the Board of Directors of the Y.W.C.A. and was active in events and activities for the residents of the Y.W.C.A. Jan worked as avolunteer with the Edmonton Folk Fest for 12 years which was a highlight every summer for her.
Jan was a wonderful mother who loved Tracy and Todd unconditionally. She was a loving wife, a great sister, a fun aunt and just a genuinely great lady who will be missed by many.
Jan wll be cremated and taken home to Oshawa, Ontario when Covid permits us to do so.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Association or to the Cancer Society.
