Obituary
While surrounded by his loving family, Jan (John) Mik passed away at Kelowna General Hospital on November 12, 2021, at 83 years of age.
John will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 55 years, Valerie; his devoted daughters Linda (Brad) and Sylvia (Brian); along with his precious grandchildren, Cameron (Greg) and Caitlin (Jordan). He leaves behind his siblings, Corrie Broer, Ria (George) Smid, Rebekka (Cor) Abbenbroek, his twin brother Hubrecht, Pieter, and Andy (Joanne). There are many nieces ands nephews as well as extended family.
He was predeceased by his parents, Jan and Marie Mik, sisters Johanna Van Meeteren, and Bertha Devaux, brothers-in-law Gerrit Broer and Leo Devaux, and sister-in-law Trudy Mik.
John was born in Dordrecht, Holland, along with his twin brother on June 15, 1938. The family survived the war before they immigrated to Canada in June of 1953, settling in Edmonton.
He worked in plumbing and building maintenance for 35 years, until he was diagnosed with Asbestosis. During that time, he also managed to design and build 4 houses for his family.
He was a dog lover and always had several by his side.

Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of life will be held in the spring.
