Obituary of James Ruml
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of James “Jim” Ruml on Sunday, December 19, 2021, at Seven Oaks General Hospital at the age of 78.
Jim was predeceased by his siblings John, Will, Ed, Frank and Mildred.
Jim is survived by his wife Denise; daughters Yvonne (Alan Doersam), Deborah Giesbrecht and Kimberly (Jonathan Rekrut); grandchildren Colton, Tanner, Gabriel and Madison; great-grandson Barret; sister Agnes; sister-in-law Joyce; and many nieces and nephews. His smile and his warmth will be missed by all.
Born in Winnipeg, Jim grew up in East St. Paul. His career in the hospitality industry started with Via Rail travelling across Canada. Jim then worked in Virden, Lynn Lake and Rivers before returning to Winnipeg. He worked for Gordon Hotels for over 40 years. Jim loved his family deeply and always worked hard to make sure they were provided for. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and family pets. He always smiled brighter when one of them was in the room. He loved helping Elza get treats out of her treat ball. Jim was famous among family and friends for his quick wit. One of his great joys was finding the perfect birthday card for his siblings to remind them of how much older they were. Jim loved watching sports and thoroughly enjoyed taking family and friends to Bombers and Jets games. Later in life, Jim enjoyed gambling trips with friends throughout Manitoba and northern Minnesota.
Cremation has taken place.
Donations can be made in Jim’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Society of Manitoba.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of James
