JAMES ROBERT YORK
1943 – 2021
Surrounded by his loving family at Juravinski Hospital, Hamilton, Jim passed into his Saviour’s arms at the age of 78, on Monday, December 6, 2021.
Beloved husband of Joan (nee Richards) of 57 years, devoted father to daughters Lisa Fong (Eric), Tricia Maughan (Michael) and son Todd (Jill).
Cherished “Pa” to six grandchildren he adored. Jeremy, Kaitlyn, Micah, Hannah, Spencer, Benjamin.
Dear brother of Gwen Speranzini.
Predeceased by parents, Frank and Ona York, Smithville.
Jim was a gentle, kind, loving man who cared deeply for his family.
While an employee at General Motors in St. Catharines for 30 years, Jim and Joan operated a small apple farm in Smithville before moving to Grimsby in 1985.
After retiring from G.M. Jim purchased a Sprinter cargo van and hit the road making expedite deliveries across Canada and the U.S. He loved it and had lots of adventures.
Jim was a member of Bethany Community Church in St. Catharines and used his van in ministry transporting used books to the Christian Salvage Mission.
A sincere thank you to the wonderful caring staff of E4 and ICU at Juravinski Hospital.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Alzheimer Society or Juravinski Hospital.
Visitation and the funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 11 at Bethany Community Church, 1388 Third Street Louth, St. Catharines, ON. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. with funeral service at 11:00 a.m.
Proof of double vaccination must be shown.
