Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden and tragic passing of our father, James Kenneth Gantz, on December 17, 2020, at the age of 65.
Jim was born in Cold Lake, Alberta, but relocated with his family to Edson at a very young age. Jim remained in the area until the mid 1990s, when he settled in the Sangudo area, where he stayed for the rest of his life.
Jim was predeceased by his parents Kenneth and Helen Gantz, and brother-in-law Harold Aschenmeier.
Jim will be dearly missed by his children Mark (Rebecca) Gantz, Meghan (Jeffrey) Bohn, and Annalise (Michael) Richer. Jim was the proud grandfather of Lily, Jasper, Adele, Lydia, Georgia, and James. Jim will also be missed by his siblings Robert Gantz, Marie (Chris) Bohme, Patricia (Graham) Hawke, Elaine Aschenmeier, and Heather (Allan Kelley) Beaulieu, as well as many nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. Jim will also be missed by his dear friend and companion Sarah Desjarlais.
Jim had a long career in the oil and gas industry as a 3rd class Power Engineer with various oilfield companies throughout Alberta. He enjoyed spending his time outdoors camping, fishing and hunting, and especially tending to his gardens in the summer months. Jim will be fondly remembered as a loving father, for his dad-jokes, as an adventurous cook, and for his strong work ethic. Jim was a man of many trades who enjoyed working on his many vehicles, doing home renovations, or just tinkering around; he did it all.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions there will not be a service held at this time.
