Death Notice
BAKER, James – On January 26, 2021, James Allen Baker gave up his fight with COPD with his wife and son at his side. He was in his 79th year.
James grew up on a farm near the village of Moscow, Ontario and attended high school in Napanee. He continued his education at the University of Waterloo and graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He worked as a Professional Engineer for Northern Telecom/Nortel heading up the Project Office for new products. When Nortel closed its London plant, James moved on to Emmerson in St. Thomas as Manufacturing Manager for 12 years.
Since retirement James has been active in many groups, among them Thistle Lawn Bowling, Seniors Learning in Retirement, two Probus groups, and part of the AV Team at Metropolitan United Church.
He leaves behind Ruth (Michie), his wife of 52 years, his son Mark (Angie) and two granddaughters, Cory and Dylan, his sister Jean (Carman) Phifer of Ottawa, and brother-in-law Lloyd (Nancy) Michie of Belgrave, nephews and nieces, and many friends.
A private family service will be conducted at Harris Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 3 by Rev. Dr. Jeff Crittenden. Please contact Harris Funeral Home for a recording of the service: info@harrisfuneralhome.ca
